I will not be carpooling due to COVID concerns but will be at Wooly Mammoth to confirm who is carpooling together. Let me know in advance if you plan to meet us at the trailhead. If so, be at the trailhead by 8:30.
The trailhead is just off of Hwy 103, just east of Echo Lake. The parking area is to the left of Mount Evans Road by the entrance to the Echo Lake Campground.

This route is well protected and mostly in the trees. Bring both Snowshoes and Spikes.
Starting out on the Resthouse Meadows Trail at around 10,700' the trail gains about 400' in first mile, and then descends around 600' in the next mile to Vance Creek. From the creek, the trail climbs steady for 1.25 miles to an open area for a total distance of 3.25 miles. This will be our turn around point unless there is consensus to travel further, while considering we will have another 600’ elevation gain on the way back climbing out of Vance Creek.
We often have a Wait List for these trips, so as a courtesy to others, if you make other plans cancel yourself in the system and let me know by text or call me on my cell 303.818.8134.
If you are on a waitlist check it frequently. The system has a glitch and no longer notifies you when you have been moved to the roster.I will send out an email the day before the trip with predicted weather conditions and other pertinent details.
Finally, please monitor your email and text messages that morning in case the trip needs to be rescheduled due to weather.
All trip participants must be fully vaccinated. Please be prepared to show vaccination status if requested. If you are starting to feel sick, cancel yourself from the trip.Let me know in advance if you have any healthcare issues that could possibly come up during the hike.
