About Us
The Colorado Mountain Club is the Rocky Mountain community for mountaincraft education, adventure, and conservation. We exist to bring people together and share our love of the mountains. We value our community and welcome all Coloradans, and beyond. From the uninitiated to the expert, there is a place for everyone here. Our Club was founded in Golden in 1912. Since then, we’ve built a legacy of responsible outdoor leadership and ethics, paired with a healthy spirit of adventure. We are the beating heart of Colorado’s mountain community, fueled by the exhilaration of time spent in the wilderness, shared experiences, and deep caring for the mountains we love. The American Mountaineering Center (AMC), where the CMC is located, is open for small events, classes, and other activities. See all updated COVID-19 protocols here.

The Colorado Mountain Club has been successful in helping to re-open the DeCaLibron Loop Trail which includes three 14ers: Democrat, Cameron, and Lincoln. We ask that everyone continue to honor the private landowners' wishes by staying on the designated trail and obeying all signage. You can learn about the issue on our blog.
