American Mountaineering Center, Golden, CO May 20 - 22, 2022

 

Join us at the AMC in Golden, CO for a weekend of training, connection and continued learning for CMC volunteer leadership!

Friday Movie Night: Join us at the American Mountaineering Center on May 20th to watch the Reel Rock 16 Screening. Tickets are FREE for volunteer leadership, $12 for members, and $20 for non-members. Register now and spread the word. 
Welcome & Breakfast: Pancakes, mimosas, and coffee served by CMC staff and Board. 

Give n Grab Gear: Giveaway gear you no longer want/need. Grab gear you're interested in. We will have a table set up for you to swap throughout the day. All items exchanged are free. 
Meet the Staff Panel: There are lots of new faces at the CMC. This is an opportunity to get to know each other. You’ll learn more about the staff and your fellow volunteers through questions and activities.

DEI Workshop: Let’s have a conversation about how to make our Club more inclusive. Through practice scenarios, we will work through how to handle difficult situations around hurtful language and behaviors. At the end of this session, you’ll have more tools and awareness to be an inclusive leader on your next adventure
Lunch: There will be a variety of options to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free diets. Enjoy this time to build relationships with your fellow volunteer leaders or spend time with the Search and Rescue Dogs of Colorado. 
Gudy Gaskill Special Award Presentation: Join us in celebrating a woman of the CMC whose volunteerism has had a positive and inspirational impact on the Club and its community.
Round Tables: What topics interest you? Here you’ll be able to rotate through brief sessions on new policies, our new website, risk management, and more!
Colorado Trivia: How well do you know Colorado? Test your knowledge with these fun facts from across the state. You won't want to miss out on the fun prizes.

Breakout Rooms: A 50-minute deeper dive into one of four specific areas. Choose from:

  • RIMS with our Conservation Team
  • Family Leadership Session with Youth Programs
  • Permitting with our Volunteer Programs Coordinator
  • Climbing Wall Training*

*For those interested in participating in the Climbing Wall Training on Saturday afternoon this will occur during two breakout sessions (3:15-4:05pm & 4:15-5pm). Attendees will need to submit the linked application to Graham Ottley graham@cmc.org prior to registering: Climbing Wall Leader Application

First Aid Kit Building: Make your way around the assembly line to collect items for your first aid kit. Stash your items in a CMC Wilderness Medicine branded fanny pack for easy access on the trail.
