Thank you for your interest in helping youth this summer! If you have a week available this coming summer, we would be thrilled to have you spend it with one of our small groups. These are groups of youth who sign up together for a day camp Monday-Friday. You will work alongside a YEP Instructor to engage the group throughout the week in creating memories that will endure well past that Friday.

Here is an overview of what you would do and what we are looking for:

Position Responsibilities

• Work with a YEP Field Instructor to co-lead a week of small group summer camp
• Assist with risk management for all group activities
• Lead youth in games and activities. Topics may include teambuilding, outdoor discovery, natural/environmental science, rock climbing, and survival skills.
• Prepare activities, materials, and equipment for programs as needed.  Clean up program areas.
• Facilitate a positive, fun learning environment and group culture
• Participate in pre-camp training and daily debriefs with YEP Instructor

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years or older
• Comfortable working with school-age children of all backgrounds
• Positive attitude and sense of humor
• Ability to provide personal transportation to and from the American Mountaineering Center in Golden

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience working with youth and families
• Spanish speaking skills are highly desired, but not necessary
• One or more of the following:
  • Experience in natural science or related field
  • Experience working in outdoor programs
  • Experience teaching youth from diverse backgrounds in environmental and/or adventure education

Time Commitment & Benefits

• One week of a small group summer camp
• Typical week is 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday

• This is an unpaid volunteer position
