At YEP, we work with K-12 schools, youth groups and organizations (Scout Troops, afterschool programs, etc.). In short, we've got programming to fit any group! Depending on program location and curriculum, YEP can work with groups as large as 60 students at one time. In order to best promote learning and engagement, YEP prefers to break large groups into smaller sections and rotate students through stations. Recommended class lengths and rotations will be adjusted accordingly to ensure a hands-on experience for all students.
Many programs are flexible and can take place either at a local park/open space, at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, or at your school*.
*YEP typically travels up to 20 miles for school-based programs. If you would like us to meet your group more than 20 miles from the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, we may charge an additional travel fee (dependent on distance/time to get to your location).
YEP staff is experienced in tailoring educational programs to meet the needs of all age groups and backgrounds. Our program is committed to making the mountains accessible to all students throughout the Denver Metro area. Since our start in 1999, we have introduced more than 70,000 youth of all backgrounds to Colorado’s mountain classroom.
" The program allows them to see that learning and challenges are presented to us outside of texts, passages and mathematical equations. This program has instilled leadership in some of my students and I couldn't be more grateful for it.”
- Kerry Andrews, 4th grade teacher, Program Partner Schmitt Elementary
