Ecology & Wildlife

Learn about local Colorado plants and animals and how they all have specific adaptations to help them survive in their environment.

Mammals: Make observations about physical features and adaptations of Colorado mammals (skulls, skins, feet)

Birds: Where do birds live? Learn about bird adaptations in their habitats. Become familiar with local Colorado birds and learn how birds move and communicate.

Trees & Plants: Where can trees grow? Learn about local Colorado trees and their adaptations, and tools scientists use to identify trees.

In our ecology and wildlife program, students will:

Compare and contrast different characteristics of Colorado mammals and draw conclusions about their adaptations
Learn about local Colorado birds and create a new bird and it's habitat
Differentiate between coniferous and deciduous trees and use a dichotomous key to identify local trees

	Kindergarten Science 2.1 Organisms can be described and sorted by their physical characteristics 1^st Grade Science 2.1 Offspring have characteristics that are similar to but not exactly like their parents’ characteristics.
