Leadership Hike

 

 

Go on a hike in your own backyard at sites such as Mt. Falcon. Learn the basics needed to hike safely in the mountains and Leave No Trace principles.

 

Nature/Ecology Hike: Programs include exploration of the local flora and fauna of the area, adaptations, and biodiversity of the ecosystem. 

 

Leadership & Teambuilding Hike:  Build a sense of community while getting outside on a hike. Participate in group activities to become stewards of the land and build your leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.

In our nature or leadership hiking program, students will:

  • Learn about basic hiking safety and etiquette (Leave No Trace)
  • Observe characteristics and adaptations of local flora and fauna
  • Use scientific tools to compare biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) factors in ecologically different sites and learn about biodiversity
  • Participate in group activities and games to develop leadership and communication skills

Suggested Grades: K-8

 

Group Size: 10-60 students

 

Available: Fall & Spring

 

Length: 3-4 hours

 

Location: Mt Falcon-East or other local site
