Geology Hike

 

 

Bring earth science and geography to life through an experiential outdoor field trip. Students will learn about basic hiking safety, Leave No Trace principles, and become geologist as they hike up on top of North Table Mountain.

In our geology hiking program, students will:

  • Participate in hands-on activities and games to learn about the rock cycle and three rock types
  • Learn about Colorado’s unique geological history and how North Table Mountain was formed
  • Identify landforms and rock types, and read topographic maps
  • Observe how rocks and soil type shapes the ecosystem

Suggested Grades: 3-5

 

Group Size: 10-60 students

 

Available: Fall & late Spring

 

Length: 3-4 hours
