Indoor Snow Science

 

 

 

Explore the wonderful world of snow. Using hands-on experiments and models, learn about snowpack, snow layers, and environmental conditions that affect influence Colorado’s snow conditions.

In our indoor snow science program, students will:

  • Use models to learn about environmental factors that influence snow crystal development and the stability of Colorado's snow pack conditions that create different snow layers
  • Assess terrain, examine snow pack, and measure slope angle
  • Simulate conditions for avalanches and learn about avalanche safety

Suggested Grades: 2-5

 

Group Size: 10-20 students

 

Available: Winter

 

Length: 45-60 mins

 

Location: at your school or American Mountaineering Center
